Lots of people spend the holidays wrapping and taping, bagging and decorating. At Alboum & Associates, we spent the holidays creating a new vendor database. Yes, I know, it doesn't sound very interesting (and the sad fact is that it really isn't), but it will help us to store searchable information about all our translators and interpreters. It's a great tool for us to be able to find the perfect translator for any and all jobs, which results in more accurate translations for our clients. To give you an example: we have LOADS of English to Spanish translators, all of whom have different specializations. Nonetheless, we happen to have only *one* translator who specializes in obstetrics. Using this database we can find this translator's details instantly. We can search through hundreds of specializations that our terrific translators have by just a click of the mouse.
We'd take this holiday gift of a database over grandma's knit woolen scratchy socks any day!
